Principal Technical Marketing Engineer(SASE / SSE / Data Security)
Palo Alto Networks, Santa Clara, CA, United States
Job Summary
As a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer (TME), you will drive the strategy, architecture, and adoption of SASE/SSE and Zero Trust in distributed enterprises. You will operate at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Go‑To‑Market (GTM), shaping how modern security architectures are built and delivered—eliminating tradeoffs between performance, security, and resilience. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role combining deep technical expertise, storytelling, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical marketing strategy for the SASE/SSE portfolio, including SD‑WAN, ZTNA, SWG, CASB, DLP, and AI Security.
- Define, document, and evangelize reference architectures for Zero Trust.
- Act as the voice of the customer to influence product roadmap and architecture.
- Create and maintain high‑impact technical content, including demos, labs, whitepapers, and presentations.
- Lead competitive analysis, positioning, and technical differentiation strategies.
- Present technical material to diverse audiences at Executive Briefing Centers (EBCs), industry conferences, and customer engagements.
- Deliver deep technical training and enablement for Sales Engineers and partners.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 15 years of experience, in a relevant field such as cybersecurity or computer science.
- Direct experience in roles like Technical Marketing, Product Management, Sales Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Deep technical expertise in SASE/SSE technologies and public cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong foundational knowledge in networking and security principles.
- Hands‑on expertise using AI as a core workflow with tools such as Claude, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Vercel, and AI‑native IDEs.
- Proficiency in Python and API integration for building AI‑driven demos and automation.
- Understanding of AI security risks including DLP, prompt injection, and data exposure.
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- A systems‑thinking approach, focusing on architecture over individual products.
- Proven experience as a "builder" who creates functional demos, labs, and automation.
- A talent for storytelling and simplifying complex technical concepts.
- An "AI‑first" mentality, leveraging AI to accelerate all aspects of work.
