
Director of Retail Sales

The Director of Retail Sales is responsible for leading and executing retail sales strategies across key accounts, with a strong focus on day-to-day account management, business development, and revenue growth. This role drives market share and profitability by building and maintaining relationships with national and regional retailers, actively managing customer performance, and ensuring effective product placement across fresh, frozen, and value-added poultry categories.
This leader is directly involved in account execution, including promotional planning, pricing, forecasting, and customer negotiations. The Director works closely with operations, supply chain, and production teams to align sales demand with live production and processing capacity, ensuring consistent service levels and minimizing disruptions. They are also responsible for identifying new opportunities within existing accounts, expanding distribution, and responding quickly to shifts in customer needs and market conditions.
The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience in retail sales within the chicken/poultry industry, with a strong understanding of fresh, frozen, and value-added products. They are highly execution‑oriented, with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to manage accounts, solve problems in real time, and lead teams in a fast‑paced, vertically integrated environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing and leading Retail Sales Operations.
- Understand the functions/agreements of Retailers.
- Have knowledge of Retail sales with regard to business strategy.
- Maintain satisfactory coverage completion each cycle.
- Accurately forecast needs and expenses.
- Manage P & L within company objectives.
- Interface with retailers senior management in order to strengthen the partnership between Bachoco USA and the retailer.
- Train and develop managers for department leadership.
- Develop key personnel for future needs of the Company and Retail Operations.
- Develop and ensure compliance of the Retail Operations business processes.
- Work directly with other departments and Senior Management in delivering organizational objectives.
- Create new services in order to serve retailers needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven track record of successful sales experience with 10 plus years of direct selling retailers
- Experience selling chicken products to grocery retailers is required.
- Strong analytical skills with extensive knowledge and be proficient in retail link with the ability to identify opportunities/issues and develop strategies to leverage/maximize the company’s position.
- Ability to work independently as well as integrate with a team.
- Ability to manage and build a team focused on growing the business.
- High sense of urgency and thrives on working in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize projects and manage a timeline.
- Excellent verbal and written skills are a must.
- Must have a professional demeanor and exhibit a high level of integrity.

- Broker management experience a plus but not required.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Ag Business, Marketing, or related field)
- MBA preferred, but not required
- 10+ years of retail sales experience in the chicken/poultry industry
- 5–8+ years of leadership experience managing teams and regional sales managers
- Proven experience selling chicken products to grocery retailers is required

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bi‑lingual in Spanish is not required, but a plus.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform the job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point. Must be a fast learner in using our in‑house ERP system and/or SAP for use in gathering and analyzing data.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for the company driving program.
