The Director of Sales is responsible for developing long‑term sales strategies and annual sales plans. The role establishes strong customer relationships, collaborates with Costco buying management in each region, and provides insights on consumer profiles and trends. The Director sets annual and monthly sales objectives in alignment with the CDS business plan, works directly with Costco GMM to develop regional event volume strategies, identifies discrepancies, and drives corrective action. The position is a creative force in developing new programs and services for Costco and its vendors, selling these services and overseeing successful implementation.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the Vice President, Sales to develop a 3-5 year sales strategy and an annual sales plan and provide quarterly updates to senior leadership.
- Responsible for the establishment of both annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the CDS business plan for the regional sales offices.
- Creates, conducts, and presents CDS’ marketing services to existing and prospective clients.
- Partners with the CPG Relationship Lead to build relationships with vendors, brokers and buyers by providing product sampling insights and advice through the development of individual event programs, sustaining external and internal customer contacts to ensure high‑level customer satisfaction, and overseeing the development of on‑going and on‑request reports.
- Develops sales metrics used to assess regional sales teams’ performance.
- Manages and directs personnel, including selection, work allocation, training, development, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and recommending personnel actions; mentors employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Be a creative force to develop new programs and services for Costco and its vendors, sell these services and ensure successful implementation.
- Ensures strong sales/operations relationships and effective communications; works with the Director of Field Operations to resolve issues and drive programs.
- Trains, develops, coaches and counsels direct reports in all aspects of the in‑house demonstration program, producing accurate demo schedules, product information sheets, and adhering to CDS policies and procedures.
- Provides excellent customer service to Costco in the form of upcoming demo volume projections and analysis of demos performed for the most recent period.

- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company‑wide processes, tools and resources.
Indirect Reports
- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports.
Travel and Driving Requirements
Essential duties; travel up to 20%.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (Required); Master’s Degree or equivalent experience (Preferred).
- Field Experience: 8+ years progressive experience in customer service and/or sales or marketing; 5+ years managing people in related field.

Environmental & Physical Requirements
Office / Sedentary: Incumbent must sit for extended periods of time (66%+ daily), hear phone, enter data on a computer, and may lift up to 10 kg.
