Macdonald & Co. has been exclusively retained by Cushman & Wakefield to lead the search for a Director of Brokerage to drive the growth and cultural transformation of its Tri-State business in New York City.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Northeast Regional President, the Director of Brokerage is a key member of Cushman & Wakefield’s market leadership team.

This leader will manage a pod of 50–70 brokerage professionals, unlocking their full potential while driving revenue, business development, and market share across Tri-State.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a culture of winning with the goal of increasing market share and achieving #1.
  • Lead, manage, and coach a diverse cohort of brokerage professionals.
  • Develop and support broker and team business plans.
  • Lead bi-annual talent reviews; deliver ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Manage broker performance (up or out), retention, recruiting, and PIPs.
  • Support and champion all broker training programs.
  • Align with Client Coverage on key accounts.
  • Foster cross-selling and drive utilization of the full C&W platform.
  • Organize tenant rep canvassing and origination efforts.
  • Build and deepen client relationships; participate in business development.
  • Ensure BD allowances are deployed for maximum ROI.
  • Manage broker collisions and review agreements ≤ $100K.
  • Partner with Operations for administrative and operational excellence.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. An MBA or other advanced degree with real estate or operations concentration is highly desirable.

Skills/Previous Experience

  • 7-10+ years of commercial real estate brokerage.
  • At least five years of either investor or broker's side commercial office leasing experience, ideally within the local market of NY.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Strong market credibility with the ability to attract and retain talent.
  • Extensive institutional client experience across development, property management, asset sales, negotiations, leasing, valuation, and risk.
  • Working knowledge of debt/capital markets preferred.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capability.
  • Confident, innovative, hardworking, and bold - without arrogance.
