Position Overview

Director of Real Estate Management to manage and optimize a portfolio of real estate assets. This key role is responsible for developing and executing real estate disposition strategies through selling or leasing assets to maximize recoveries for the funds it manages. This position is instrumental in protecting the company's investment and is expected to grow into a broader leadership role as part of a succession plan.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Real Estate Management is an LA-based or PHX-based position on a hybrid schedule with at least two (2) days in-office. This position will report to the Director, Risk Management. While not an exhaustive list, the Director of Real Estate Management will be responsible for:

  • Monitor assigned portfolio of real estate assets to ensure execution of leasing strategies are successful for income producing assets.
  • Determine highest and best use of disposing or leasing non-income producing assets to maximize returns to the managed funds.
  • Prepare real estate management reports monthly and present recommendations for senior management.
  • Orchestrate takeover of foreclosed properties.
  • Recommend and implement capital improvement plans (when appropriate) and disposition plans.
  • Control expenses, see to the preparation of accurate monthly operating statements, engage real estate brokerage, review offers, seek approval of REO sale transactions, and arrange closings.
  • Occasional travel required for property inspections, broker meetings and market assessments.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years' previous experience in managing real estate portfolios.
  • A demonstrated desire to embrace collaboration, communication, and shared purpose to promote outcomes that would be impossible to achieve individually.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret loan documents and other contracts, research and interpret other relevant data, and independently resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively and effectively describe complicated matters. Effectively use both oral and written forms of communication to negotiate repayment terms with borrowers, collaborate with legal counsel, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize (as necessary) combined with the ability to multi-task (as necessary) to address matters that require close attention to details and adherence to urgent deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation

This position is exempt full-time, with salary range: $150,000 depending on experience level, plus discretionary bonus potential.
