Finance/Budget Division

Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $133,836

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee the development and coordination of section budgeting policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Direct and support the budgeting staff's performance to ensure airport sections are adequately managing their budgets to provide proper levels of service to the airports.
  • Prepare an analysis of expenses such as projections and preliminary final budget summaries for budget approval to the Office of Budget & Management and City Council.
  • Manage the distribution of periodic financial management system (FMS) information reports and highlight the variances from approved budget to all department sections.
  • Approve programs, operational budgets, and amendments in FMS for appropriate funding.
  • Presentation of reports that compare performance with plans, budgets and projections (e.g. Overtime reports, snow cost reports, etc.).
  • Interpret financial and statistical results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the overall objective of the position and department (i.e. approving APRFs, approving status rate changes, approving expense forms, etc.).
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:30AM - 4:30PM

This position is exempt from the career service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a directly related field, plus five (5) years of professional financial management work experience, of which four (4) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or a directly related field, plus four (4) years of professional financial management work experience, of which four (4) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.

NOTE: May be required to work late nights or weekends.

A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.

The candidate(s) selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).
