Director Project Finance

Piper Maddox, Andover, MA, United States

Director of Project Finance & Transactions | Tier-1 Renewable Energy Supermajor

Comprehensive Benefits including Complete Healthcare coverage, 35+ days PTO

The Company:

We are partnering with a top-five global leader in renewable energy and clean power capacity. Backed by the massive balance sheet of a global energy group, they develop, build, own, and operate a multi-gigawatt portfolio of wind, solar, utility‑scale battery storage (BESS), and demand response assets across North America. They are actively deploying capital and looking for a heavy‑hitting finance leader to drive their M&A and project finance structuring.

The Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Director of Project Finance & Transactions will be the financial quarterback for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments across the US and Canada.

This is not a back‑office modeling role. You will be front‑and‑center evaluating transaction opportunities, structuring complex project financings (including navigating the new tax credit transferability markets), and supporting capital formation. You will sit at the intersection of M&A, Business Development, Legal, and external capital providers to ensure optimal financing structures for both new investments and operational assets.

What You Will Do:

  • M&A & Due Diligence: Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, and JVs. Scrutinize project models, capital structures, and commercial contracts to identify value drivers and risks.
  • Project Finance Structuring: Drive the origination, negotiation, and closing of project financings, including traditional tax equity partnerships, tax credit transferability transactions, and term debt facilities.
  • Execution & Advisory: Prepare investment committee materials and valuation analyses. Act as the primary liaison with lenders, tax equity investors, transferability buyers, and financial advisors.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership: Partner closely with Development, Valuation, Tax, and Asset Management to ensure modeling assumptions align with real‑world project contracts and financing agreements.

The Profile We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 5–8+ years of highly relevant experience in project finance, infrastructure private equity, investment banking, or renewable energy transactions.
  • Demonstrated transaction experience across utility‑scale Wind, Solar, and BESS assets.
  • Technical Chops: Elite financial modeling and valuation skills. You must have a proven track record of analyzing and structuring tax equity partnership flips and project‑level debt.
  • Market Knowledge: Direct, hands‑on experience executing tax credit transferability transactions under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
  • Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field (MBA or CFA highly preferred).

Why This Seat?

If you are currently at a developer or bank where your pipeline is stalled or capital is constrained, this is an opportunity to join a well‑capitalized supermajor that is aggressively executing deals. This role offers high visibility to senior leadership, a massive balance sheet to play with, and a highly competitive compensation package (including a Day-1 vested 401k match and top‑tier PTO).
