Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Finance Directorto oversee our financial operations, drive strategic planning and analysis, and help scale a sustainable, high-integrity financial infrastructure. This leader will be instrumental in supporting our growth, strengthening our financial systems, and ensuring the clinic’s long-term financial health.
The Finance Directoris responsible forthe organization’s full spectrum of financial planning, accounting, and operational finance functions.This roleoverseesfinancial planning and analysis, general accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, financial reporting, debt and banking relations, audit, tax compliance, and grants/contract management. The Finance Directorworks closely with our third-party accounting firm andprepares Board-level reportingand serves as a strategic partner to the organization’s leadership.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical, collaborative finance leader with strong nonprofit experience, exceptional communication skills, advanced Excel competency, and the ability to work effectively in both high-level strategy and day-to-day detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and scenario modeling.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Board reporting packages.
- Conduct P&L analysis, variance reviews, and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making.
- Own weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial performance reporting.
- Provide strategic financial support to growth initiatives, new investments, and service expansion.
- Build, refine, and automate financial reports, dashboards, and scorecards to enhance decision-making.
- Move seamlessly between strategic, big-picture planning and detailed analytical work.
- Provide insights into operational and financial performance, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Support capital budgeting, bookkeepingand long-term facilities planning.
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Directs the organization’s accounting infrastructure, including general ledger operations, payables and receivables, revenue recognition, fixed asset management, and month-end close
- Directs accounts receivable processes to support consistent cash flow, including timely collections and accurate reconciliation of patient and funder accounts.
- Manage fiscally sponsored projects accounts, by ensuring proper application of funds and payments.
- Direct and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses to maintain financial integrity.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- In partnership with the Director of Administration, lead annual audit and tax filings, supporting compliance with nonprofit and healthcare regulations.
- Serve as banking liasion and manage debt covenants, cash flow, and treasury functions.
Payroll Leadership
- Prepare payroll to ensure compliant, accurate, and timely processing for all employees.
- In partnership with the Director of Administration, manage payroll tax filings, wage reporting, and year-end tasks (W-2s,1099s, etc.).
- Partner with Director of Administration to ensure accurate employee compensation data, benefits deductions, and payroll records.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and risk-management procedures.
- Oversee third party accounting firm, financial systems, and payroll systems to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and scalability.
- Drive process improvement initiatives across accounting, procurement, and payroll workflows.
- Implement automation and best practices to streamline close cycles and reduce manual work.
- Lead financial governance and operational efficiency efforts as the organization grows.
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting, payroll, and FP&A team members.

- Provide ongoing performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships throughout the organization.
Strategic Judgment & Organizational Leadership
- Advise the Executive and senior leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and long-term strategy.
- Provide financial counsel on organizational priorities, cost optimization, and resource allocation.
- Maintain open, proactive communication to ensure leadership is informed of key issues.
- Contribute to the development of organizational goals, strategic initiatives, and growth plans.
- Address ambiguous or unstructured problems with sound analysis, creativity, and judgment.
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required.
- CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
- 6+ years of broad financial and operational management experience, with progressive leadership in accounting, FP&A, or related roles.
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or fiscal sponsorship experiences strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
- Advanced Excel proficiency; strong financial modeling capabilities.
- Experience with nonprofit ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Experience implementing or optimizing financial and budget reporting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills; able to balance multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills; able to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial partners.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive financial and employee information.

Compensation
This is a full-time, salary position at $110,000 - $135,000/year with excellent benefits! Medical, Dental, Vision insurance for employees covered at 100% and dependents at 80%, $500 continuing education credit annually, five weeks of paid time off a year, in addition to 10 sick days and organizational holidays/closures; as well as retirement benefits.
