Job Purpose

The IT Project Management Office Director leads the university’s IT Project Management Office and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer. The position develops the governance framework, methodology, and operational procedures for the PMO, and manages a portfolio of significant technology initiatives, including ERP and enterprise system-wide modernization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of project management methodologies, life cycle, processes, and communications aligned with PMI best practices and institutional priorities.
  • Drive enterprise-wide project prioritization and resource allocation, ensuring timely completion of project components within established schedules and budgets.
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance the IT department’s project management framework, including intake procedures, governance structures, charter templates, reporting mechanisms, and a hybrid Agile‑Waterfall methodology.
  • Foster cross‑functional and external collaboration, building relationships with stakeholders, P3 partners, and technology steering committees to align project priorities with institutional objectives.
  • Communicate project status across IT and the campus community via reports, dashboards, and a project website, and provide regular updates to the CIO and Technology Steering Committee.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop a skilled business analyst / project manager team, set departmental goals, conduct performance reviews, and maintain staff certification and professional development.
  • Evaluate the project life‑cycle, implement process improvements, and participate in the IT Steering Committee.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of project management and business analysis experience; experience structuring an outcome‑focused PMO, PMP certification, and familiarity with PMI best practices. Preference for higher education experience or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Dynamic and innovative leadership with proven ability to cultivate relationships across the organization; proactive, solution‑oriented approach; high‑quality analysis as a subject matter expert in project management, prioritization, business process, and business analysis. Skill in assessing organizational needs, implementing effective solutions to enhance efficiency and drive cost savings; successful leadership of diverse teams and formulation of strategies to foster change. Extensive knowledge of higher education business processes highly desirable.

Salary

Salary Range: $92,000 - $117,500
