Overview
Small Business Producers at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. are dedicated to driving new business growth by acquiring new clients and expanding our market presence in the small business market. This role requires a proactive approach to sales, focusing on high-volume deal closure. Success in this position involves building a robust pipeline, striving to close one new deal per week, and developing a personal brand aligned with Gallagher’s high-achieving, collaborative, and innovative culture. We are hiring nationally, and successful candidates must be located near any of our Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS) branch locations.
The Role of the Producer
As a Small Business Producer, you will drive new business growth and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads. You are expected to acquire new clients and close one new deal per week.

How You'll Make an Impact
Objectives for Success
- Act as an entrepreneur, developing a book of business by acquiring new clients and closing one new deal per week.
- Build and maintain a network of internal and external contacts to help generate leads and referrals.
- Establish and maintain a new business pipeline of qualified leads exceeding five times the goal, ensuring all tracked information is current.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently, enabling handling multiple prospects and clients simultaneously.
- Conduct client discovery with confidence, engaging with business owners and key stakeholders to tailor solutions.
- Consult clients independently, recognizing opportunities to involve other subject matter experts as needed.
- Schedule regular check‑ins with the Client Service team to stay informed about account status and strategies.
- Take responsibility for scheduling internal client account review meetings, ensuring timely and thorough completion.
- Brief the Regional Small Business Market Leader and the Area President/Area EVP on key account status.
Partnering with Gallagher Benefit Services
- Identify an internal network of supportive peers, consultants, leaders, and other staff to rely upon for guidance.
- Set informal meetings with these individuals as needed.
- Present Small Business Solutions across all business lines and articulate value to prospects and clients, providing introductions to other relevant Gallagher SMEs.
- Identify a Gallagher Global Broking (GGB P&C) Producer to partner with, starting with opportunities and warm introductions.
- Within six months, gain introductions to division-level resource leaders across the Gallagher Better Works model.
- Know your competition and provide information on wins/losses. Schedule post‑presentation reviews with all Gallagher participants.
- Regularly solicit feedback on performance in client‑facing and internal colleague‑facing settings.
- Provide training and partnership opportunities to junior team members, emphasizing client strategy, compliance, and ethical conduct.
- Speak up regarding succession opportunities of interest and guide leaders seeking career progression.
About You
Required: Bachelor’s degree, 1 year related experience, and appropriate insurance licensing required OR Bachelor’s degree, participation in Gallagher’s Sales Internship Program (GSIP), and appropriate insurance licensing required OR High School Diploma/GED and 6 years experience.
Preferred: Professional designation may be preferred, including CEBS, CPCU, CIC or ARM.
Behaviors: Act independently with minimal direction, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to: previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
