Qualifications

  • Demonstrates aptitude or competency for assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with groups to accomplish district goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Possess valid CDL and School Bus Driver's License.
  • Pass annual physical examination.

Superintendent of Schools

Job Goal

To enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district in an atmosphere of cleanliness and a caring environment.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Comply with all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation.
  • Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventative safety.
  • Recruits, trains, and supervises all transportation personnel, and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, and release.
  • Advises the superintendent on the road hazards for decision of school closing during inclement weather.
  • Cooperates with school principals and others responsible for planning special school trips.
  • Develops and administers a transportation program to meet all the requirement of the daily instructional program.
  • Prepares bus routes and coordinates activity trips for the district.
  • Prepares and updates bus schedules.
  • Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings.
  • Prepares and administers the transportation budget.
  • Authorizes purchases.
  • Approves and forwards transportation service invoices to accounting department.
  • Maintains all district-owned vehicles and develops plans for preventative maintenance.
  • Submits all reports required by state authorities.
  • Takes an active role in solving discipline problems occurring on the school buses including documentation of student's misconduct and communication with parents.
  • Acts as a liaison with parents for complaints and special requests.

Terms of Employment

Schedule and salary set by Board of Directors.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions in board policy and master contract.
