
Director of Inventory Strategy & Forecasting

The Director of Inventory Planning will be responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and execution of all inventory planning functions across the organization. This key leadership role involves optimizing inventory levels to meet sales demand, minimize obsolescence, and maximize working capital efficiency. The successful candidate will drive best practices in forecasting, replenishment, and allocation, collaborating closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Merchandising teams.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive inventory strategy aligned with company financial goals, service level targets, and operational capacity.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of robust demand forecasts at the SKU and category levels, incorporating historical data, market trends, promotional activities, and business intelligence.
- Leading the management, strategic planning, and hands-on implementation of cross-functional projects focused on optimizing inventory management practices, specifically targeting enhancements to service level performance, inventory turnover rates, and working capital efficiency.
- Providing guidance and direct supervision to inventory planning managers, overseeing their time management, task prioritization, and effective utilization of the replenishment system to achieve optimal inventory flow, reduced stockouts, and reductions in unproductive inventory.
- Executing additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as required by executive leadership or assigned by the department head, contributing to the overall success and strategic goals of the supply chain divisions.
- Advanced knowledge of Forecasting and Fulfillment software as well as other various software applications, including Microsoft and Google.
- Extensive Knowledge with Supply Chain processes and solutions which are global in nature, integrated with other process areas, scalable, flexible and follows industry best practices.
- Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, utilizing a systematic approach to problem-solving and decision-making through meticulous examination of information and evaluation of diverse alternatives.
- Possesses excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong listening abilities and business acumen.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, proceed with objectives with little or no supervision, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in inventory planning, demand planning, or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years in managing or leading a team.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Forecasting and Fulfillment software
- Must be willing to travel for Company related functions as needed - requirements may vary
- Must be able to work in person at the Orgill Corporate Office
