The Day Worker Center of Mountain View, founded in 1996, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Mountain View, Los Altos, and Sunnyvale.

Our vision is a world where day laborers live with full rights and responsibilities in an environment of mutual respect, peace, and harmony.

We support day workers with job‑matching services, English language instruction, job skills training, healthy meals, and access to legal and medical assistance.

Position Overview

The Associate Director is a passionate advocate for equity, committed to empowering day laborers and building a Silicon Valley that works for everyone. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in community‑building, team development, and nonprofit leadership.

Employment Type: Full‑time

Location: On‑site in Mountain View, CA

Reports To: Executive Director

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the Day Worker Center
  • Oversee development and implementation of current and new programs and services
  • Lead, supervise, and support staff and volunteers
  • Serve as a liaison between the day worker community, local residents, and public officials
  • Provide hands‑on support workshops, ESL classes, and healthy meal services
  • Strengthen and expand the center’s programming to meet evolving community needs
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to advance the Center’s strategic vision
  • Support nonprofit governance, fundraising efforts, public outreach, and community partnerships
  • Maintain and grow relationships with external stakeholders and partners
  • Track and assess organizational impact to ensure strategic goals are met

Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Passion for social justice, equity, and immigrant worker rights
  • Strong interest in advancing to an executive‑level role in the nonprofit sector
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community‑based or nonprofit organizations
  • At least 2 years of management or team leadership experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with program budgeting and process improvement
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborative, flexible, and willing to take initiative

Compensation

Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000, commensurate with experience

Benefits: Fully paid health insurance and dental for employees

Paid Time Off: 3 paid holidays, 4 hours of PTO accrued per pay period (maximum 190 hours).
