Job Description: Youth Ministry Director

Grace Community Fellowship Overview:

Grace Community Fellowship is a nondenominational, evangelical church centrally located in Eugene, Oregon (a suburban, college town with a metro population of 380,000+.) The church has grown steadily since its launch in 1980, currently averaging over 550 weekly attendance (450 adults, 100 kids/youth). The church is currently completing a multi-million-dollar expansion to their building for youth ministry. Grace is a contemporary, innovative, multi-staff church.

Youth Ministry Overview:

Grace Community Fellowship has a solid track record of vibrant youth ministry. Comprising of a middle school ministry and high school ministry, the youth ministry has recently had up to 50-60 students attending weekly youth gatherings and draws students from multiple schools in the area.

The characteristics of the youth ministry are an emphasis on small groups, evangelism, camp, a college internship program, and student leadership development.

Employment Details:

Status: Full-time, salaried, exempt

Hours: Sunday through Thursday

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with education and experience

General Duties:

Lead, develop, and oversee all aspects of the middle school and high school ministry.

We are searching for a candidate with the following character, competencies, and chemistry.

  • Displays a love for Jesus Christ, His church, and ministry to youth

  • Integrity in character, relationships, and actions (inside and outside “the office”)
  • Self‑motivated and proactive

Competencies

  • Work in alignment with the staff team to fulfill the vision and values of the church
  • Set short‑term and long‑term goals and execute action steps towards their completion
  • Recruit, train, and retain high quality volunteers and interns
  • Plan, organize, and communicate ministry calendar
  • Equip, encourage, and resource parents for the discipling of their student(s)
  • Lead youth camps, trips, and events
  • Teach on a regular basis in youth gatherings and as needed in other venues
  • Steward youth ministry budget
  • Delegate ministry tasks to others (as appropriate)
  • Manage and maintain all youth ministry assets (including meeting spaces)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Able to affirm our statement of faith, mission, vision, and values
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Christian ministry or Bible/theology (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience working in youth ministry (preferred)
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
