Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. Responsibilities
Purpose of Position : Under general supervision, provides assistance in the administration and supervision of confidential activities within a group of services in the health care setting. Responsible for several departments and manages the technical, managerial, ancillary, clerical and support staff of these departments.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Directs and supervises staff and support departments, coordinates special services across activities of related support and professional service departments.
- Prepares operating plans and drafts of plans, policies, programs and procedures. Participates in the implementation of improved systems and procedures, monitors of systems, and in the control and audit programs.
- Makes studies of adequacy and effectiveness of general administrative and support services and makes recommendations.
- Prepares data for budget preparation, operating and statistical reports, analysis and makes recommendations.
- Monitors requisitioning of supplies and equipment. Requisitions materials and supplies for administrative, professional and support service activities.
- Prepares studies on patient care standards, conducts analysis and prepares recommendations.
- Attends staff meetings, conferences and consults with other departments.
- May represent health care setting administration in relevant functions and programs.
- Assists in grant proposal writing and in submitting revenue and expenditure reports for special funded programs.
- Performs other related duties, as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital, Health, Public or Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in hospital administration with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience, as described in #1 above.
Department Preferences
Under direction of the COO will be responsible for coordinating and executing the management of multiple departmental projects or a large-scale and complex project focused on improvement or development of health care setting and/or System-wide initiatives in support of its strategic goals. Supports collaborative development with various business teams and drives process improvements for the successful management of the overall project life-cycle, supporting provision of all deliverables from inception to completion.
