Reports To: Associate Vice President of Operations

Position Overview

Totlani & Partners is assisting a confidential healthcare organization in the search for a Plant Operations Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across facilities management functions. This role is responsible for overseeing building maintenance, biomedical services, and hazardous waste management across multiple sites.

The Director will ensure all physical infrastructure, systems, and environments meet regulatory, safety, and operational standards while driving efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for Plant Operations, including maintenance, biomed, and hazardous waste programs
  • Plan, organize, direct, and supervise engineering and maintenance department activities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards, including CMS, OSHA, Life Safety Codes, and healthcare facility requirements
  • Oversee maintenance and performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, utility systems, and medical equipment
  • Lead, coach, and manage Plant Operations managers, technicians, and support staff
  • Drive business strategy execution, cost controls, and productivity improvements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with organizational leadership on facility-related initiatives, projects, and risk mitigation
  • Maintain safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations across all locations

Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in facilities or plant operations
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boilers, hazardous materials, and safety management
  • Strong understanding of healthcare facility regulations and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and operate effectively in complex, politically sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated experience in business strategy execution, cost management, and operational efficiency

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Experience in healthcare facility operations
  • CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager) certification
  • College degree in maintenance, engineering, or related field, or technical training in a building trade with state licensure
