Distribution Center Director

Responsible for day‑to‑day operational excellence of the site, ensuring consistent application of standard operating procedures and policies, achieving Key Performance Indicators, and managing site financials (P&L). Leads and manages all employment‑related activities for site team members.

Operational Scope

  • Annual Unit Volume: 400k – 700k
  • Average Inventory Units: 60K - 100K
  • Annual Sales Volume: $40M - $60M
  • FTE Headcount: 12 - 20
  • Annual Margin Dollar: $2.8M – $7.5M
  • Average Routes per day: 11 - 22
  • Shifts Per Day: 1

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all elements of distribution center operations (shipping, receiving, inventory control, route management).
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all picking, receiving, put‑away, and load/ship operations.
  • Consistently apply SOPs to achieve operational performance indicators.
  • Protect company assets including inventory, equipment, and facility.
  • Maintain facility, equipment, and vehicles, resolving issues that interfere with safe, efficient, and fiscally responsible operations.
  • Manage labor, delivery, and variable costs to align with annual business plans.
  • Drive team accountability and performance, ensuring company policies are administered appropriately.
  • Drive safety initiatives to meet performance requirements (TRIR, preventable accident rates).
  • Collaborate with Wholesale and Franchise sales teams to meet service level agreements and identify service improvement opportunities.
  • Drive initiatives that foster an Employer of Choice environment and employee experience.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to achieve operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory training requirements.
  • Partner with Human Resources to execute employment cycle activities (hiring, training, performance management, succession).
  • Propose continuous improvement updates or redesigns of SOPs to improve efficiency.
  • Lead implementation of building initiatives (technology, cost containment, inventory management, safety, training, engagement).
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational and financial goals while maintaining customer service excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 4‑year degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, Business or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.
  • Demonstrated management experience with leadership, motivation, time management, training, coaching, counseling.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work well under pressure (prioritization, time management, composure).
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology and proven success in dynamic environments.
  • Safety 1st mentality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively while bending and twisting.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, holidays, weekends as needed.
  • 24/7 cell phone, email, and security system access for emergencies.
  • ERP system and Routing Software experience is a plus.
  • High level of professional integrity.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus.
