Graduate Director of Criminal Justice (Associate Professor/Professor and Graduate Program Director)

Position Overview

This 12‑month tenure‑track faculty position reports to the Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Department at North Carolina A&T State University. The Graduate Director will oversee the Master’s and PhD programs, manage curriculum, advise students, handle admissions, ensure program quality, and serve as a key link between graduate faculty, students, and the department.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain graduate curriculum and standards.
• Teach approved graduate‑level courses and support student academic progress.
• Advise and mentor Master’s/PhD students; guide theses and dissertations.
• Manage admissions and recruitment of graduate candidates.
• Act as liaison between graduate faculty and the department.
• Represent graduate studies; serve on the Graduate Council and participate in retention initiatives.
• Prospect for external funding opportunities and pursue research grants.
• Review course materials and complete additional teaching and service duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. or terminal degree in Criminal Justice or related discipline.
• At least four years of university‑level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated scholarly activity, teaching excellence, and service.
• Experience in curriculum development and student advising.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with innovative or online learning approaches.
• Track record of successful grant writing or external funding acquisition.
• Service on graduate thesis and dissertation committees.
