Overview

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) is seeking to fill an opening for the Associate Director of Training. The Associate Director of Training works within a multi-disciplinary staff and reports to the Director of CaPS. This position will oversee all aspects of the training program, from trainee recruitment to completion of the program. The Associate Director of Training provides oversight of trainee supervisors and serves as a member of the department’s administrative leadership team. The Associate Director of Training provides goal-directed clinical service to RIT students, consults with families and the RIT community, provides educational and outreach programming, and supports the training of graduate trainees in mental health fields. The Associate Director additionally provides administrative and clinical supervision to CaPS staff. The successful Associate Director of Training values a multifaceted approach to supporting student well-being involving strongly linked clinical and training efforts; data-driven organizational management; consultation with the campus community; mental health prevention/early intervention.

Please note this position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the strategic planning and implementation of clinical training for graduate trainees.
  • Directs and supervises a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals.
  • Assists in management of departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation.
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality mental health counseling and therapy services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of mental health service administration and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of leadership and management methods in a mental health care setting
  • Skill in budget management and policy development within a healthcare environment
  • Skill in developing and managing training programs for mental health professionals
  • Ability to oversee the delivery of high-quality mental health services
  • Ability to work with various stakeholders to improve student mental health outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology
  • 5 years of clinical experience
  • 3 years of experience in a higher education setting
  • 3 years of providing clinical supervision and leadership
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in New York State as a Psychologist within 6 months of beginning position
  • Knowledge of Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
