Job Responsibilities
The Distribution Center Director is responsible for day-to-day operational excellence of the site, ensuring consistent application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies and key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved. This role is responsible for site financials including P&L management and will lead and manage all employment-related activity for site team members. Qualified candidate must be open to relocation for career growth and advancement.
Responsibilities
- Oversees a Local Distribution Center with total operational scope: Annual Unit Volume: 400k – 700k; Average Inventory Units: 60K - 100K; Annual Sales Volume: $40M - $60M; FTE Headcount: 12 - 20; Annual Margin Dollars: $2.8M – $7.5M; Average Routes per day: 11 - 22; Shifts Per Day: 1.
- Oversee all elements of distribution center operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and route management. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all picking, receiving, put away, load/ship of all orders, and product returns.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are consistently applied to achieve operational performance indicators.
- Protect company assets including inventory, equipment, and facility.
- Maintain the facility, equipment, and vehicles; resolve issues interfering with safe, efficient, and fiscally responsible operation.
- Manage labor, delivery, and other variable costs within the Distribution Center to align with annual business plans.
- Drive team member accountability and performance; ensure company policies are administered appropriately.
- Drive safety initiatives to ensure safe and on-time delivery of products to customers, including safety performance requirements (TRIR) and preventable accident rates.
- Collaborate with Wholesale and Franchise sales teams to meet service level agreements and identify opportunities to improve customer service.

- Ensure compliance with company and regulatory training to equip staff to perform duties.
- Partner with Human Resources to lead the execution of employment cycle activities for team members, including hiring, training, performance management and succession.
- Observe operations with a critical eye and recommend continuous improvement updates or redesigns of SOPs to improve efficiency, cost, or customer satisfaction.
- Lead implementation of building initiatives related to technology, cost containment, inventory management, safety, training, and engagement; ensure successful adoption of new behaviors and skills.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational and financial goals while maintaining customer service standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A 4-year degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, Business or related discipline is preferred or equivalent experience in warehouse distribution or transportation.
- Demonstrated management experience with leadership and motivational ability, time management and organizational skills, training, coaching and counseling preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and related software.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize, and manage time; maintain composure.
- Knowledge of Lean methodology and success driving change in a dynamic environment.
- Safety-first mental attitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50 pounds and maintain physical capability as needed.
- Must maintain a current driver’s license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.
- 24/7 access to cell phone, email, and security system in case of an emergency.
- ERP and routing software experience a plus.
- High level of professional integrity.
