Interior Designer Manager

GLT is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to become a part of our team! The candidate will assist in requirements gathering, space planning, and furniture and finishes selection of the interiors of commercial buildings. The successful candidate will work with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible. Provide oversight and direction to direct reports

Develop professional growth opportunities for direct reports

Communicate job expectations and plan, monitor, and appraise job results

Delegate responsibility, provide regular feedback, and hold direct reports accountable

Evaluate, and improve the efficiency of business processes and procedures

Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishments

Communicate regularly with management and executives

Monitor and manage team performance

Document and present the team’s project status tracker

Develop and streamline design processes

Assist in training process development and implementation

Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, and recommending system improvements

Lead client communications and foster client/company relationships

Coordinate deadlines and deliverables of Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Designers

Assist Lead Designers on large full building renovations

Lead space planning requirements gathering to determine clients’ needs

Conduct site surveys, walk-throughs, and furniture punch list

Travel to perform site surveys, including architectural and furniture surveys

Participate in architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP), and furniture meetings

Develop test-fits, concept plans, and furniture & finish selections for medium to large renovations and commercial spaces

Develop 35% Design Intent Drawings (DIDs)

Apply ADA/ABAA standards to across all deliverables

Assist in research to support design team on concept development

Work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion

Establish and maintain client, vendor, and consultant relationships

Review DIDs and Construction drawings (CDs)

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Interior Design or Architecture or Fine Arts required

(10) years of experience in commercial interior design furnishings, finishes, fixtures and equipment in various stages, from conception to completion required

Experience working within a quality management system

Experience in supervising and managing a team

Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills

Works well in stressful and complex environments

Proficient in AutoCAD

Furniture experience is a must

Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite or other design software

Significant exposure to various standards and practices applied in the design field

Experience leading a project team

Experience communicating with client, PM and vendors

Training new hires

Implementing new processes and standards

Presenting and conveying designs to end users

Must live in the United States

Authorized to work in the United States with an ability to pass public trust clearance

Experience working on projects in various stages, from conception to completion

Deadline and detail-oriented

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

Working with Herman Miller and/or MillerKnoll is a plus

Working with OFS is a plus

Experience working with Revit

Proficiency in developing 3D designs using 2020 CAP

Proficiency in completing DIDs and CDs

NCIDQ Certification

LEED Certified

Management experience in a team-oriented workplace
