We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant workplace community.**What You’ll Do** As a **Director for Open Educational Resources**, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the statewide development of K-2 English Language Arts Open Educational Resources, ensuring all products demonstrate alignment with the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards, meet high quality expectations, and comply with applicable Florida Statutes and State Board of Education rules.Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for:* Developing and executing a strategic vision for Open Educational Resources (OER) aligned to Florida’s state academic standards, statutory requirements, and statewide instructional priorities.* Ensuring all OER materials align to adopted state academic standards and are consistent with State Board of Education rules and legislative intent.* Recommending policy and serving as the policy lead related to OER, as appropriate.* Ensuring all OER materials comply with statutory requirements, including accuracy, transparency, and public-access requirements.* Conducting final content review for alignment to standards, factual accuracy, grade-level appropriateness, and instructional coherence. Establish and enforce documented quality-control protocols to ensure consistency across grade levels and content areas.* Ensuring all materials meet federal and state accessibility requirements.* Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, contractors, and content partners supporting OER development.* Identifying risks to timelines, scope, or quality and proactively develops mitigation strategies. Assisting with scope development, procurement documentation, and monitoring contracts related to OER production.* Reviewing contractor deliverables to ensure alignment with contract terms and state expectations. Preparing briefing documents, executive summaries, and decision memoranda for senior leadership and the Commissioner, as needed.* Directly supervising three Curriculum Specialists assigned to the development, review, and publication of OER. Establishing clear performance expectations, deliverables, and timelines for each specialist and monitoring progress through structured weekly accountability meetings.* Reviewing and approving work products to ensure alignment with Florida’s state academic standards, statutory requirements, and Department priorities.* Providing ongoing coaching, technical guidance, and corrective feedback to ensure quality of product.* Evaluating staff performance in accordance with Department policy, completing required performance reviews, and documents performance concerns or improvement plans when necessary.* Approving leave requests, monitoring attendance, and ensuring appropriate coverage to maintain project continuity.* Performs other duties as assigned.**Who We’re Looking For** We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:* A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in English, English Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum and Assessment, Elementary Education, or a closely related field.* Five (5) years of professional experience in K-12 education, curriculum development, instructional materials, or educational resource design.* Experience developing, reviewing, revaluating instructional resources aligned to academic standards. Experience managing projects with established timelines and deliverables.Preference will be given to those with a Master’s degree in English, English Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum and Assessment, Elementary Education, or a closely related field. Teaching or administrative experience in an elementary setting, and experience supervising professional staff.**What We Offer** We offer more than just a competitive salary of **$85,000 - $95,000**.
