WELD is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on reentry, housing stability, workforce development, and long-term recovery. We provide wraparound services through transitional housing, clinical case management, employment pathways, and community-based programming. As WELD continues to grow, including expansion in housing, capital projects, and Medicaid-related infrastructure, we are strengthening the systems needed to support long-term impact.
Position Summary
The Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership across WELD, ensuring that organizational priorities are translated into clear plans, aligned systems, and effective execution. This role is responsible for strengthening internal infrastructure, improving cross-functional coordination, and supporting a high-performing, accountable organization. The Director of Operations partners closely with executive leadership to ensure day-to-day operations support long-term organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of day-to-day operations across programs, shared services, and key cross-functional initiatives.
- Translate organizational strategy into operational priorities, implementation plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve systems, workflows, and internal processes that strengthen efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.
- Ensure strong coordination and alignment across housing, employment, clinical, and other program areas.
- Establish, monitor, and analyze operational goals, performance indicators, and organizational risk areas to support informed decision-making.
- Oversee operational planning and resource allocation to ensure staff time, organizational capacity, and financial resources are aligned with priorities.
- Lead efforts related to compliance, reporting, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements, including WAQRR, Medicaid, HUD, contracts, and other funding obligations.
- Supervise, coach, and develop staff while fostering a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present clear operational updates, recommendations, and performance reporting to executive leadership and the Board.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community partners, contractors, funders, and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Oversee facilities across our housing portfolio and resource center, ensuring safe, compliant, and well-maintained environments, while also managing organizational insurance coverage and risk mitigation
- Demonstrated senior-level operational leadership experience in a complex, multi-program environment.
- Proven ability to build, strengthen, and scale systems, processes, and performance measures.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate vision into practical execution.
- Excellent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to align teams and navigate change effectively.
- Ability to lead with consistency, professionalism, and sound judgment in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to equity, accountability, and mission-driven work.
- Experience in nonprofit, housing, behavioral health, reentry, or human services settings preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000 to $140,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
