POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior High Life Lead / Pastor will plan, organize, develop, and direct a comprehensive ministry for junior high students (grades 6–8), aligning the ministry mission with the overall church vision. This role exists to create a fun, safe, and Christ-centered environment where students can grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, and experience a strong sense of belonging within the church. The Junior High Life Lead will build the ministry through intentional relationships with students, parents, and volunteers, while collaborating closely with the Student Life team and supporting the overall Family Life ministry.
ACCOUNTABILITY
This position is led by the Family Life Pastor and works in collaboration with the Student Life team. The Junior High Life ministry will support the overall mission, values, and vision of the church.
DEPARTMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
TEACHING
- Commit to regular Biblical study and age-appropriate teaching of God’s Word
- Communicate Biblical truth in engaging, relevant, and practical ways for junior high students
- Assist in developing curriculum, lessons, and teaching environments for Junior High Life
LEADERSHIP
- Create and carry out a Christ-centered vision for Junior High Life
- Lead and oversee all junior high ministry programming (grades 6–8)
- Recruit, train, and develop volunteer small group leaders
- Provide direction, encouragement, and support for volunteers
- Collaborate with Student Life and church staff teams
- Manage ministry budget, calendar, and assigned resources
DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF MINISTRY ENVIRONMENTS
- Plan and execute weekly gatherings, small groups, and student experiences
- Organize camps, retreats, outreach opportunities, and special events
- Build systems that help students grow spiritually and relationally
- Partner with parents to support students’ spiritual development through communication and connection
- Ensure student safety by following all church and child protection policies
MINISTRY TEAM PARTICIPATION
- Participate in regular meetings with the Family Life Pastor and Student Life team
- Stay informed on cultural trends and issues impacting junior high students
- Actively engage in ministry environments through direct leadership and team support
PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide pastoral care, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to students and families
- Build Christ-centered relationships with students, parents, and volunteers
- Pray with and for students and families
- Support church-wide ministry efforts and events as needed
- Participate in pastoral responsibilities as appropriate within the ministry context

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education: Ministry degree or relevant training (preferred but not required)
Minimum Experience: Experience working with junior high students (preferred)

- Ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteers
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Demonstrated commitment to student spiritual growth
