
Assistant Childcare Center Director

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Director to join our growing team at a beautiful state‑of‑the‑art childcare and preschool center in Strongsville, Ohio .
As the Assistant Director, you will work closely with the Center Director to support and lead daily operations, staff coordination, enrollment processes, compliance, and parent communication. This role requires a proactive and organized individual who is passionate about early childhood education and thrives in a dynamic, child‑focused environment. You will serve as a vital link between administration and classroom staff, ensuring smooth operation of the center and delivery of high‑quality care.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Center Director with oversight of daily operations, curriculum execution, and staff coordination.
- Help ensure compliance with ODJFS licensing rules, Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) standards, and center policies.
- Act as a point of contact for staff and parents in the absence of the Center Director.
- Collaborate with teachers and classroom staff to ensure a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Assist with enrollment processes, tours, family onboarding, and maintaining up‑to‑date student and staff files.
- Aid in scheduling, substitute coverage, and time‑off approvals to ensure adequate classroom coverage.
- Maintain accurate records for attendance, incident reports, and CACFP food program documentation.
- Help plan and lead staff meetings and professional development trainings.
- Monitor and support teaching staff with curriculum implementation and classroom management strategies.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress, center events, and concerns.
- Assist with budget management, ordering supplies, and tracking center expenses as delegated by the Director.
- Step in as classroom support or substitute as needed to maintain staffing ratios.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Combination of office work and time spent in classrooms.
- Typical hours with some flexibility as needed.
- Must be able to move quickly and interact with young children.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel and bend for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to walk up and down steps several times each day.
- Able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
- Participate in safety drills by following the established guidelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting, with some leadership experience preferred.
- Prior experience as Lead Teacher, Administrative Assistant, or similar role strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of ODJFS licensing rules and Step Up To Quality (SUTQ).
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Clean BCI/FBI background check.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
- Knowledge of ProCare or similar childcare management software is a plus.
- Tdap and MMR vaccination.
- TB screening.
