Summary/Purpose:

The Regional Sales Director – West Region is responsible for planning, directing, and executing customer growth strategies for JTEKT products across the Western United States, serving Industrial OE, Industrial Aftermarket, and Automotive Aftermarket customers.

This role provides overall leadership, coordination, and evaluation of regional markets and the sales organization supporting them, ensuring alignment to company objectives and sustainable growth. The Regional Sales Director partners closely with JTEKT North America functional leaders—including engineering, operations, marketing, and finance—to coordinate activities, align resources, and drive consensus on regional strategy and direction.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong working partnerships with JTEKT North America functional leaders to align regional strategies, resources, and execution.
  • Develop and execute regional sales plans and growth strategies that support company objectives and drive profitable, sustainable growth across Industrial OE, Industrial Aftermarket, and Automotive Aftermarket markets.
  • Lead, coach, and direct the regional sales organization to consistently achieve revenue, margin, and performance goals.
  • Create comprehensive, accurate business plans and forecasts; monitor performance and ensure accountability to plan.
  • Establish a high‑performance, results‑driven culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build JTEKT North America’s reputation as an employer of choice by attracting, developing, and retaining top sales talent.
  • Define sales roles, responsibilities, quotas, and objectives; conduct regular performance reviews and performance improvement actions as needed.
  • Develop and implement sales processes, policies, and best practices that drive desired outcomes and enable scalable growth.
  • Design and coordinate training and development programs to enhance sales capability and support company objectives.
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity; provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead regional pricing strategy through cost planning, market intelligence, and value positioning to win and retain business at target margins.
  • Manage executive‑level customer relationships, set and manage customer expectations, and contribute to high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Personally engage in closing strategic and high‑value opportunities when required.
  • Travel regularly to engage customers, channel partners, and internal stakeholders and to develop key relationships within the region.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives as assigned by the Executive Director of Sales – Industrial OE & Aftermarket.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct leadership and supervision to Sales Account Managers supporting the Industrial OE, Industrial Aftermarket, and Automotive Aftermarket segments within the West Region.
  • Responsible for employee supervision in accordance with JTEKT North America policies, procedures, and leadership standards, including performance management, development, and accountability.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of sales principles and methods, including marketing strategy, value‑based selling, product positioning, sales processes, and performance management systems.
  • Strong understanding of Industrial OE, Industrial and Automotive Aftermarket customer expectations, buying behaviors, and channel dynamics.
  • Proven experience with budget development, business planning, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Highly motivated, results‑driven leader with a positive attitude and high level of energy and professionalism.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a collaborative, team‑based environment while maintaining accountability for goal achievement.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability to foster a positive, engaged, and high‑performance team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Solid computer skills with working knowledge in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making ability in a fast‑paced environment requiring timely and effective responses.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field, with 10+ years of progressive sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior sales or departmental management role, leading teams and managing complex, multi‑market sales organizations.

  • The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of prescribed PPE.
  • Domestic travel by automobile and plane both up to 50% of time.
