Assistant Property Manager, Multifamily (Lease‑Up)
The Multifamily Assistant Property Manager is responsible for maintaining our communities to a market‑ready standard, ensuring a high level of service at all times. They also build and motivate high‑performing teams to maximize property performance. Ballantine: Luxury Class‑A Lease‑Up, 280 Multifamily Units. Salary $34.00–$36.00 per hour, eligible for benefits and additional earnings. Required On‑Site Schedule Tuesday through Saturday.
Job Description
Ensuring the smooth running of our community in a fast‑paced environment.
Assist the Property Manager with overall operations including maintenance, capital improvements, lease administration, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, collections, evictions, vacancy anticipation, marketing, lease renewals, service contracts, expense control, audits, etc.
Assist the Property Manager with providing superior customer service and communication to residents and prospects to enhance satisfaction and increase renewals, revenue, reputation, and profitability.
Complete lease/renewal paperwork to ensure completion of company standards.
Track and evaluate advertising and all client traffic.
Assist the team by maintaining and modeling the Cushman & Wakefield mission to be the best national management company.
Assist the Property Manager with day‑to‑day operations of the entire on‑site team, ensuring all Cushman & Wakefield policies and procedures are followed.
Maintain effective on‑site staff through interviewing, hiring, and coaching as necessary.
Maintain residents’ files in accordance with company standards.
Maintain a positive living environment for community residents through prompt conflict resolution and consistent follow‑up.
Manage and maintain all aspects of overall community budget and finances.
Work with leasing staff to ensure leasing/marketing goals are being met.
Competencies
Effective communication and customer service skills.
Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation skills.
General office, bookkeeping and sales skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Determine leasing opportunities of staff and work on goal setting – “improving the performance of each staff member.”
Supervise day‑to‑day operations of the team, ensuring all C&W policies and procedures are followed.
Work with leasing staff to ensure leasing/marketing goals are being met.
Be able to manage a team.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Education
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
High School Diploma, GED, Technical or Vocational school required.
Experience
1+ years of on‑site multifamily property management experience in an Assistant Property Manager role required.
On‑Site Schedule Required Tuesday through Saturday.
Yardi systems experience required. Strong preference for CRM, Knock systems experience.
Strong preference for bilingual Spanish or Portuguese fluency (written and verbal).
Strong preference for prior Luxury, Class‑A Lease‑Up experience.
Strong preference for exposure to affordable tax credit / LIHTC, including recertification process in New Jersey.
Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Regularly required to travel outside between properties in varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties, the employee may need to stand and walk for extended periods, ascend and descend staircases, ladders or step stools, and may be required to travel outside between buildings. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 85% of the time, operate office machinery, and exert up to 25 pounds occasionally or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.
