The Associate Director, FP&A - Global Merchandising serves as the primary financial partner to the Global Merchandising organization. This role leads financial planning, forecasting, and analytical support, shaping long‑range planning, and providing targeted insights that inform on assortment, pricing, margin optimization, and inventory. Operating with significant autonomy, the Associate Director provides actionable insights that support profitable growth, margin expansion, and improved inventory efficiency across regions.
Strategic Business Partnership
Serve as the trusted advisor to merchandising leadership, supporting decisions related to assortment strategy, pricing, and margin optimization.
Translate merchandising initiatives, ensuring actions are tied to measurable financial outcomes.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Help establish monthly, quarterly, and annual top‑down financial targets for sales, margin, and inventory, and other ROI metrics for multiple categories, regions, and channels.
Direct and oversee monthly forecasting and annual budget process.
Lead multi‑variable scenario modeling incorporating margin drivers, vendor funding, supply chain impacts, pricing strategies, and category‑level opportunities/risks.
Validate forecasts through detailed driver analysis and alignment of financial narratives.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support
Support financial analyses supporting assortment decisions, pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, and new product introductions.
Perform margin analysis, pricing elasticity analysis, vendor cost analysis, and ROI assessments for merchandising initiatives.
Prepare executive‑ready materials that clearly communicate results, drivers, risks, and recommendations.
Deliver manager and buyer level reporting and performance analysis that clearly enhances understanding of results and drivers.
Develop and monitor key merchandising KPIs, including GMROI, inventory turns and aging, vendor funding, and pricing performance.
Design and maintain financial models integrating sales, margin, OTB, inventory turns, vendor funding, and contribution profitability across categories and regions.
Develop standardized reporting templates to consolidate financial performance across different regions and categories.
Mentor a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Manage and drive continuous improvement around performance reporting for business teams and senior leadership.
Perform other related activities as needed.
Performance Measurement
Execution of finance‑related functions to support and measure the strategic initiatives tied to merchandising growth and profitability.
Effective communication and influence with cross‑functional partners.
Accountability for accuracy, timing, and completeness of deliverables.
Innovation and process improvement.
Bring your passion and expertise (Who you are)
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline is required. MBA is a plus.
Exceptional financial acumen with 10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis roles. Retail experience preferred.
Strong understanding of retail/membership club drivers, including margin management, markdowns, and supply chain cost drivers.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage forecasts, budgets, and financial reports in a fast‑paced, multi‑currency business.
Experience with FP&A systems; IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) a plus.
Independently conceive and construct complex financial models, identifying and analyzing business trends.
Understands and can apply analytical methods: variance analysis, trend analysis, and predictive modeling; financial scenario modeling for analysis of return on investment, profitability, time to break even, margin improvement, pricing elasticity, new product, new market, volume analysis, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English.
High level of emotional intelligence and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Highly collaborative, adaptable, and effective in a fast‑paced, multi‑currency environment.
