J MAR’s client is seeking a Senior Lease Analyst to support a large, diversified portfolio of non-operated mineral and royalty assets. This role is well-suited for a professional who enjoys analyzing and interpreting lease terms, understanding ownership structures, and ensuring accuracy across a complex asset base.
Position Overview This position is centered on lease analysis and interpretation, with complementary responsibility for title research and ownership validation. The Senior Lease Analyst will work across a broad portfolio, evaluating lease provisions, maintaining ownership records, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies.
Responsibilities Lease Analysis & Interpretation
Analyze and interpret oil & gas leases, including royalty provisions, burdens, and contractual obligations.
Maintain and track leasehold ownership across a non-operated asset portfolio.
Evaluate lease terms in support of asset management initiatives and transactional activity.
Identify inconsistencies, risks, or gaps within lease language and ownership structures.
Title & Ownership Analysis
Review and interpret title documents (deeds, assignments, probates, etc.) to determine mineral ownership.
Maintain accurate record title and ownership data across internal systems.
Conduct ownership research utilizing regulatory and commercial databases (RRC, OCC, Enverus, county records, etc.).
Support ownership validation efforts associated with acquisitions and ongoing asset activity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with operators, purchasers, and internal teams to resolve ownership and revenue-related discrepancies
Maintain organized, accessible land, lease, and title records to support ongoing operations
Contribute to special projects related to land administration, portfolio analysis, and data quality initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience
analyzing and interpreting oil & gas leases and title within an in-house or consulting firm environment.
Background in a
Lease Analyst, Land Analyst, Title Analyst, or similar role focused on ownership analysis and lease interpretation.
Strong understanding of mineral ownership, leasehold interests, and royalty structures, with the ability to interpret ownership data and supporting documentation.
Experience reviewing and interpreting oil & gas lease agreements, title documents, and ownership records.
Proficiency conducting research using RRC, OCC, Enverus, county records, or similar regulatory and commercial databases.
High level of accuracy with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Petroleum Lease Title Analyst ( CPLTA ) designation.
Exposure to division order processes or ownership decks.
