
Senior Legal Analyst, Commercial - Marketing and Sales (U.S.)

About the Role
The Senior Legal Analyst, Commercial (U.S.) supports the U.S. Commercial Legal function by providing legal and contract support, and compliance assistance to enable the company’s commercial objectives in the United States with respect to its smoke‑free product portfolio. The role partners closely with U.S. Commercial business teams and attorneys to support marketing, sales, and commercial activities in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulatory requirements, company standards and policies.
Daily Responsibilities
Support attorneys and business partners by reviewing and analyzing commercial and marketing materials for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Assist with legal review of sales, trade, pricing, distribution, and promotional programs, escalating issues as appropriate.
Develop and maintain working knowledge of U.S. commercial activities and the relevant federal, state, and local regulatory requirements for such activities.
Attend regular meetings with key stakeholders and actively participate in problem‑solving and legal issue‑spotting regarding launch and commercialization of PMI U.S. products in states and localities.
Legal Research, Analysis & Risk Support
Conduct limited research under the supervision of team attorneys and prepare summaries, issue‑spot analyses, and draft guidance to support attorney advice and business decision‑making.
Identify potential legal and regulatory risks in commercial initiatives and support the development of mitigation approaches under attorney supervision.
Maintain real‑time records, status trackers, and databases of legal analyses, regulatory requirements, and approvals.
Utilize company‑authorized AI tools to improve efficiency of legal counseling; support the U.S. Commercial Law team in exploring new ways of leveraging and developing AI tools for legal support.
Drafting & Contract Support
Draft, review, and provide comments on routine commercial and marketing related agreements (e.g., NDAs, master services agreements, statements of work, consulting agreements) using approved templates and guidance.
Support contract review processes by coordinating with Procurement and business stakeholders.
Assist with drafting terms and conditions, privacy policies, official rules, and disclosures for commercial programs and initiatives.
Training, Governance & Collaboration
Support the development, review, and delivery of legal and compliance training for Commercial teams.
Collaborate with commercial team and cross‑functional partners (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Procurement) to support compliant execution of business initiatives.
Contribute to a culture of integrity, inclusion and respect, and support the Legal function’s commitment to high ethical and governance standards.
Other Team Support
Support other projects and tasks as assigned.
Critical Skills & Capabilities
Solid understanding of legal terminology, principles, and compliance concepts, with strong research and analytical skills.
Ability to spot legal issues in areas of law, internal policies and youth access prevention, and raise them to the attention of group attorneys.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Confidence and willingness to collaborate with business stakeholders respectfully.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a practical, business‑focused manner.
Strong organizational skills and comfort working with processes, documentation, and trackers.
Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow legal and business expertise.
Who We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum 4–5 years of relevant experience in a law firm or in‑house legal department supporting commercial, regulatory, or corporate legal work.
Experience reviewing contracts, marketing materials, or supporting regulated or consumer‑facing businesses is preferred.
Fluent in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Excel.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Annual Base Salary Range $114,400 – $143,000
