Job Title
Community Corrections Officer 2 (CCO2) – Mount Vernon, WA.
Salary Monthly Salary Range: CCO1 $4,603.00 - $6,190.00; CCO2 $5,610.00 - $7,540.00. Salary depends on qualifications. Minimum starting salary for a CCO1 placement begins at Step G ($5,338.00/monthly).
Work Location Mount Vernon Field Office, 205 W Stewart Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
Shift Hours 08:00 – 17:00 Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
Supervise criminal individuals (S/Is) ordered to community supervision under Washington law.
Conduct investigations, searches, issue warrants, and make arrests.
Complete intake procedures and administer risk, needs, and substance abuse assessments.
Maintain electronic and hard‑copy files; produce accurate written documentation.
Prepare Pre‑Sentence Investigation (PSI) reports and Drug Sentencing Alternative (DOSA) risk assessments.
Engage S/Is using motivational interviewing and principles of effective interventions.
Present documentation and oral testimony to courts and hearings; recommend sanctions.
Collect, document, and maintain evidence with proper chain of custody.
Operate department‑issued firearms, adhering to safety and protocol.
Support safe reentry of individuals into the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to carry and use a department‑issued firearm.
Unrestricted Washington state vehicle operator’s license.
Willingness to work with individuals with criminal backgrounds and anti‑social behavior.
Demonstrated college‑level coursework or experience in at least three of the following skills:
Written communication
Critical thinking
Analytical reasoning
Conflict resolution
Situational awareness
Problem solving
Organizational skill
Independent work
Flexibility
One of the following combinations of education and experience:
High school diploma or GED + at least four years of qualifying experience.
Associate degree + two years of qualifying experience.
Bachelor’s degree.
Equivalent combination totalling four years.
Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment
Felony disclosure, background check, psychological screening, and drug testing.
Orientation, mandatory training, and completion of yearly, in‑service, and other required training.
Firearms Academy and CIT training within prescribed timeframes.
