Job Description
Senior Associate Product Owner is an individual who has 5+ years of relevant experience working in the capacity of a Business Analyst, Scrum team member, or other IT-related role. It is expected that an Associate Product Owner has a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and understands how to translate business wants and needs into technical specifications for development team members. Senior Associate Product Owner should have product owner certification or be working towards one within the first year of hire.
Responsibilities
Working with stakeholders to identify features and/or enhancements that would add value to your product.
Managing the product backlog, ensuring items are relevant, prioritized, and ordered.
Ensuring your team's backlog health meets the standards the team has agreed upon.
Collaborating with your development team by articulating the business's wants and needs, so that they can create well thought out backlog items.
Proactively communicating changes, tradeoffs, and updates to the roadmap with stakeholders.
Conducting yourself in a professional manner, being an advocate for the development team, and protecting their time.
Cultivating an inclusive work environment, allowing everyone to freely contribute to solutions and collaborate on the work to be done.
Gathering feedback on completed work items and using that feedback to update and maintain the product backlog and negotiate when items are ready to be released.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Information Systems or engineering fields, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of relevant experience working as a Business Analyst, Scrum Team Member, or other IT related role.
In-depth understanding of Product Development and Software Development Life Cycles.
Understanding how to translate business wants and needs into technical specifications (e.g., User Stories, Features, Acceptance Criteria, etc.).
Comfort level working with backlog management, collaboration, and visualization tools.
Experience working on a project with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities or initiatives.
Excellent organizational skills with a self-starter mentality and resourcefulness in solving problems to ensure teams have what they need to deliver.
Product Owner certification or willingness to acquire one within the first year (e.g., CSPO, PSPO).
Preferred Qualifications
Product Owner certification or willingness to acquire one within the first year (e.g., CSPO, PSPO).
Familiarity with UX/UI best practices and experience incorporating user experience considerations into product backlog items, acceptance criteria, and feature prioritization.
