Teaching Lab

is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming teacher professional learning and improving student outcomes. We partner with teachers, schools, districts, and state leaders to build scalable instructional systems.

About the Department The Program department designs, delivers, and continuously improves teacher professional learning initiatives. It manages project scopes, provides coaching and professional learning, and creates research‑based content tailored to partner needs.

About the Role The Director, Program leads the design, execution, and impact monitoring of high‑quality professional learning and coaching programs. The role leverages cross‑functional collaboration to set programmatic goals, develop systems and processes, and ensure measurable improvement in educator practice and student learning.

Responsibilities

Lead implementation of professional learning and coaching services across state and district partnerships.

Design and refine research‑based, user‑centered professional learning content, tools, and resources.

Manage complex programmatic projects and maintain partner‑facing systems, plans, and deliverables.

Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for team members and project‑based staff.

Support partnership development, contract renewal, and continuous improvement of programmatic impact.

Collaborate with Program, Learning & Research, Finance, and Strategy & Communications to align strategies and resources.

Essential Qualifications

Eight (8) or more years of combined experience working in PK‑12 education, including at least two years teaching underserved students.

Five (5) or more years of experience directing and managing projects and leading teams.

Experience planning and implementing large‑scale educational projects.

Experience working with external partners to manage workflow or deliver services.

Experience leading or coaching implementation of high‑quality incremental professional improvement.

Experience setting goals and creating systems and processes for educational programming.

Experience developing strategy for a team or business function.

Track record of effective people management.

Deep knowledge of College‑ and Career‑Ready math content and practice standards.

Experience designing impactful professional learning for educators.

Experience facilitating professional learning or coaching for educators.

Experience leading relationships with clients and stakeholders in an education context.

Experience teaching or coaching in at least one of the following math curricula:

Amplify Desmos, Carnegie Learning, Envision Mathematics, EngageNY/EurekaMath, Illustrative Math, Into Math, iReady, Savvas, Skyline, Zearn Math

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree.

Deep understanding of the specified curriculum, including its design and component parts.

Working Conditions & Requirements

Must be able to work a flexible, often remote, schedule and travel to deliver in‑person support.

Will sometimes hold multiple roles on project teams (e.g., Project Lead, Coach Developer, Instructional Designer).

Travel required; frequency may vary by partnership.

Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and participate in virtual meetings.

Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $106,000 – $139,825 annually (subject to budget and performance). Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, professional development support, and a technology/home‑office stipend.
