
Senior Product Counsel, Spectacles

We’re looking for a Senior Counsel to join the Product Legal team! You’ll be joining a team responsible for AI, AR, and Spectacles, and you’ll focus on counseling a diverse array of hardware and software issues.
What You’ll Do:
Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to understand and assess new products and technologies, from early development stages through launch.
Review engineering and design specifications for privacy‑by‑design requirements and legal compliance.
Analyze potential legal and safety risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies.
Work with legal and business colleagues to develop regulatory compliance and go‑to‑market strategies.
Help scale the legal organization by developing innovative processes—including AI—to support the fast‑moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams.
Help draft public‑facing descriptions, terms, and product inserts of new products and technologies.
Conduct trainings for engineers and other teams across the company.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Excellent legal and business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
Strong understanding of laws and experience across a range of legal disciplines (e.g., advertising, privacy, consumer protection, marketing, IP).
Strong subject‑matter expert on all things AR, AI, and hardware.
Detail‑oriented, business‑friendly, and a phenomenal teammate, with an ability to accommodate tight deadlines.
Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the company on complex, multifaceted issues.
Experience working directly with engineers and product managers.
Comfortable mastering new areas of law and tech.
Minimum Qualifications:
J.D. from a nationally recognized law school.
Active membership in at least one state bar.
8+ years of experience practicing law.
Preferred Qualifications:
Deep experience counseling clients on hardware legal issues, including compliance with global hardware regulations and safety and repair standards, and counseling on product liability issues. Bonus points if you have experience with wearable technology.
Experience advising clients on domestic and global privacy issues, including ones related to AI, AR, and wearable technology.
Experience directly advising and working with product teams and engineers to drive outcomes that effectively balance risk mitigations and business objectives.

Compensation: In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $251,000–$377,000 annually.
Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $238,000–$358,000 annually.
Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $213,000–$320,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
