Job Summary We are looking for an Architectural Walls Designer to join our team. This position can work out of our DC, New York, or Philadelphia offices. The role collaborates with Account Executives, Clients, and Customer Support Teams as an industry expert to design and specify creative, functional, and alternative solutions that meet client expectations and project requirements. Responsibilities include programming, typical development, space planning, finish palettes, drawings, specifications, and field verifications. The Designer will engage clients, project teams, and external partners to develop and execute exceptional design solutions while fostering learning and process improvement to promote quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Project Definition and Planning: Participate in and/or facilitate project meetings to establish and maintain clear project expectations (scope, deliverables, timeline, roles and team operations). Contribute to the development and presentation of design solutions that optimize client space and engagement. Advise on and negotiate project design details in relation to proven practices, standards, and priorities.

Design Process Execution: Execute larger and more complex higher‑profile projects independently, ensuring quality and efficiency. Gather programming to develop/revise schematic designs in compliance with client expectations. Outline cost estimates and resource needs for approved design recommendations. Develop and revise schedules, documentation, and recommendations in alignment with project requirements. Promote information sharing, learning, and process improvement.

Design Consultation and Collaboration: Engage clients in real time to agree on design intent. Create drawings, renderings, and other deliverables that illustrate and reflect design intent. Advise on design applications that address programming needs (ergonomics, technology integration, building codes, ADA requirements). Coordinate with consultants, project teams, and installers to manage changes, field reviews, and installations. Organize and manage project drawings, revisions, and critical documentation.

Customer Service: Serve as an industry expert to inform and address client inquiries. Maintain a professional and positive demeanor across situations. Communicate transparently and professionally across the project team to promote an exceptional client experience.

People and Culture Development: Act as an informal peer coach to resolve real‑time project issues. Support organizational culture and expectations. Establish inclusive relationships with colleagues and project teams. Maintain accountability for ongoing learning and improvement.

Requirements Qualifications – Education and Experience Required

Associate’s degree in interior design, architecture, or related field.

5+ years’ experience in contract design and/or furniture dealership or construction.

Specification and layout of systems, ancillary furniture, demountable partitions, contract furniture and/or construction processes from programming to delivery/installation.

Knowledge of workplace environment issues (ergonomics, technology integration, teamwork, planning, facility needs).

Familiarity with building codes, ADA regulations, Electrical Code, etc.

General knowledge of building practices (partition types, flooring material thickness, installation applications).

High proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, CAP Studio or Project Matrix, Configura CET, and proven graphic layout skills.

Proven track record in a customer‑facing environment (internal and external).

Ability to execute complex, high‑volume projects simultaneously in an organized, creative, and quality‑driven manner.

Strong learning and coaching capabilities and interest.

Conscientious, flexible, with a strong work ethic and problem‑solving and team orientation.

Effective written and verbal communication across various audiences and situations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred

College degree in interior design, architecture, or related field from a CIDA‑accredited program.

NCIDQ and state certifications.

Active membership in relevant associations.

Salary Description $80,000 – $100,000 per year
