Credit and Portfolio Risk Management Specialist

Inside the Role: The Risk Management Specialist will support the North America region (US, Canada, Mexico) by delivering analytical insights into evolving credit and risk trends. This role evaluates portfolio performance, borrower and dealer risk, and emerging patterns to inform credit strategy and strengthen underwriting quality. Using internal data and external market indicators, the specialist identifies risks and opportunities that enhance credit decisioning and optimize risk‑return outcomes. The position also advances key risk initiatives focused on increasing the efficiency and accuracy of underwriting and mitigating portfolio risk.

Responsibilities

Analyze internal and external data (industry, macroeconomic, consumer behavior) to identify emerging credit trends, shifts in portfolio performance, and changes in borrower and dealer profiles that impact underwriting and risk appetite.

Apply strong credit analysis judgment to evaluate risk exposures, design mitigation strategies, and provide high‑quality insights that inform credit policy, line assignment, pricing, and approval frameworks.

Develop and maintain performance reporting across acquisitions, collections, recoveries, and end‑to‑end credit portfolios, ensuring visibility into underwriting effectiveness and portfolio health.

Partner with cross‑functional teams to refine reporting structures, dashboards, and KPIs aligned with credit strategy and risk appetite.

Analyze data across multiple systems to develop strategies for acquisition, auto‑decisioning, scorecards, risk‑based collections, and other credit‑related optimization opportunities.

Support the development, testing, implementation, and documentation of new acquisition scoring models, rating tools, and credit underwriting enhancements.

Demonstrate capability to work with AI tools, automated analytics workflows, and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau), and provide recommendations on emerging technologies that strengthen credit and underwriting performance.

Provide data‑centric risk consulting to internal stakeholders, helping business partners understand credit impacts, interpret insights, and apply them in strategic and underwriting decisions.

Deliver impactful presentations and credit insights to business leaders, risk committees, and cross‑functional partners.

Collaborate closely with teams across Risk, Finance, Collections, Sales and IT to drive enhancements, strengthen credit literacy, and elevate underwriting excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years relevant work experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Hands‑on experience with credit analysis, credit underwriting and/or finance/risk management.

Demonstrated functional expertise in credit analysis, financial analysis and credit operations.

Proficiency with reporting tools, dashboards, Excel, and AI/automation technologies.

Ability to create clear, compelling presentations, and contribute to credit initiatives.

Strong communication, storytelling, and executive‑level presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Risk, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field.

Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification.

Experience in the financial services or banking industry with direct exposure to underwriting, credit policy, or risk modeling.

Experience developing scorecards, rating models, or AI‑based credit platforms.
