Property Management Intern (Multifamily)
Overview
The Property Management Intern will support the day-to-day operations of a multifamily community, gaining hands‑on experience in leasing, resident relations, and property management. This role may provide exposure to a variety of asset types, including affordable housing, student housing, and conventional (market‑rate) communities. Working closely with the Property Manager and site team, the intern will assist with administrative, operational, and customer service functions that contribute to the overall performance and resident experience of the property.
Location One of our student housing properties in South Bend, Indiana.
Duration May - August 2026
Work Schedule Full‑time, Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Reports to Senior Property Manager
Key Responsibilities
Support leasing activities, including responding to inquiries, scheduling tours, and assisting with application processing.
Greet and assist prospective and current residents, delivering a high level of customer service.
Assist with resident communications, including notices, emails, and community updates.
Help maintain accurate resident files and ensure documentation compliance.
Support rent collection processes and follow‑up on outstanding balances, as appropriate.
Assist with property inspections, unit walks, and readiness for new move‑ins.
Coordinate with maintenance and other team members to support timely resolution of resident requests.
Assist with marketing efforts, including online listings, social media, and outreach initiatives.
Support the team with administrative tasks such as data entry, reporting, and filing.
Gain exposure to compliance requirements related to affordable housing programs, where applicable.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and special projects as assigned.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business needs and contribute to team success.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Real Estate, Hospitality, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
Prior customer service, administrative, or sales experience is a plus, but not required.
Interest in real estate, property management, or the multifamily housing industry.
Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Willingness to learn and take initiative.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
