O’Rourke Media Group is seeking an entrepreneurial, community-driven Community Editor to lead the continued growth of the City Sun Times brand in Arizona, including overseeing the curren

t market and expanding into Gilbert.

This is not a traditional editor role.

We’re looking for a leader who can build and scale a modern local media presence through community engagement, user-generated content, and strategic freelance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and grow the existing City Sun Times market

  • Lead the expansion into Gilbert, Arizona

  • Build and manage a network of freelance contributors and community voices

  • Own and deploy a freelance content budget

  • Drive user-generated content initiatives and community submissions

  • Engage directly with local businesses, schools, nonprofits, and residents

  • Deliver consistent, high-quality content across digital, social, newsletters, and print platforms

  • Partner internally to support audience and revenue growth


What We’re Looking For:

  • A strong community connector with relationship-building instincts

  • Experience managing freelancers or content contributors

  • A mindset of an operator and builder, not just an editor

  • Passion for local journalism and audience growth

  • Organized, accountable, and comfortable owning a market
