Director of Security - Commercial Office High Rise - Rosemont, IL

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Security Officers, Site and Shift Supervisors including hiring/selection, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, development and support.
  • Ensure the client site is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property.
  • Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with both client and employees.
  • Coordinate necessary support services to effectively manage the client site to meet or exceed financial and operational goals and provide quality customer service.
  • Handle any escalated security issues or emergency situations appropriately.
  • Conduct annual reviews for on‑site staff.
  • Monitor the quality of staff performance, including coordinating and conducting exit interviews, reviewing unemployment claims and disciplinary actions, recommending suspension or termination, and ensuring a regular performance appraisal program for all staff.
  • Coordinate and document performance tracking of all staff personnel.
  • Maintain and ensure the integrity of personnel files and workforce management systems, working with Account/Operations Managers and the HR department as necessary.
  • Support the HR department in reviewing involuntary terminations, including union grievances and appeals.
  • Support the Director of Operations and HR in hiring, training and onboarding.
  • Compile and prepare reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities and account trends.
  • Track company equipment in the field (technology, vehicles, etc.) and ensure company equipment is used in accordance with applicable policies.
  • Stay current on federal, state and local CBA guidelines related to our services.
  • Support the organization’s culture, processes, practices and systems to ensure company and client success.
  • Prepare correspondence and memos as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Management or a related field and/or equivalent experience/education preferred. Minimum of seven years of managerial and policy‑making experience in law enforcement or contract security. Extensive internal contacts within the local law‑enforcement community required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Ability to obtain a valid security license (PERC). Professional certifications in Security Management (CPP or similar) preferred.

Computer Skills

Ability to create and manage budgets, budget variance reports and other reports in Excel. Experience with workforce management systems and scheduling systems preferred.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Bilingual is a plus. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, financial and time‑management skills required; ability to concisely address questions and provide policy expertise to ownership and management.

Other Qualifications

Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, pass a pre‑employment drug screen and criminal background check, strong qualitative and quantitative skills. Self‑starter with strong time‑management, workflow prioritization and high attention to detail. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and work independently or in a team. Prior employment in a fast‑paced, high‑intensity environment demonstrating ability to manage multiple tasks and produce accurate results. Must maintain a working telephone number.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs., perform interior and exterior foot patrols, and work in inclement weather conditions.

Salary & Benefits
