Summary
Plans, creates, reviews, and delivers technical publications for flight simulators and supports proposal documentation development. Writing duties require an extensive knowledge of applications and techniques to properly address the technical, training, and proposal aspects of the position. The position also involves project management to successfully orchestrate the people, resources, and tasks needed to ensure all Technical Publications and proposals are completed on schedule and within budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Create instructor guides, maintenance technical manuals, user handbooks, and proposal documents in Microsoft Word.

Write and edit proposal content to include compliance matrices, technical approach narratives, executive summaries, past performance, and staffing plans.

Collaborate with Proposal Managers, Business Development, Engineering, and Program Management teams to develop proposal documentation that responds to customer requirements and aligns with company objectives.

Instruct technicians on all aspects of theory, troubleshooting, and practical application of simulator maintenance.

Provide technical direction to other technical writers as necessary to complete publications and proposal documentation.

Adhere to proposal schedules, deadlines, and deliverable requirements to ensure timely submissions of high‑quality proposals.

Assist with budgetary planning, man‑loading projections, and bid proposal estimates.

Participate in presentations and discussions at Technical Data Guidance Conferences, Technical Publications in‑process reviews, Technical Publications Verification Conferences, Training Conferences, Proposal Reviews, and L2A Gates.

Assist in planning and monitoring the activities of instructor/technical/proposal writer teams.

Coordinate workflow between functional groups and other departments.

Prepare and deliver presentations to management and customers.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Associate's degree (AA) in a technical field or equivalent, or technical school, or equivalent military training.

Six years of technical writing experience.

General electronics maintenance experience or three years simulator maintenance experience required.

Experience with Maintenance Manual Development.

Prior experience working on government or commercial proposals, with an understanding of Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and compliance requirements, strongly preferred.

PC literacy is required; must be proficient in MS Office Suite coupled with a general working knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications.

Experience with proposal management tools (e.g., SharePoint, MS Teams, PowerPoint, and AI SW Tools) is a plus.

Self‑supervised, with attention to detail, initiative, and discipline as requisite characteristics for successfully managing multiple concurrent tasks.

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong technical knowledge, and business acumen.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret advanced documents and publications.

Ability to write technical documentation to include Technical Manuals, Instructor Utilization Handbooks, and proposal documentation.

Ability to author proposal content that is clear, concise, and compelling, while adhering to customer requirements and evaluation criteria.

Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to management, customers, and stakeholders at program/project reviews and meetings.

Ability to work with advanced mathematical applications associated with electronics such as algebra, exponential equations, logarithms, and basic electronic calculations.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as man‑loading projections, cost estimating, and pricing evaluations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to read/understand digital and analog electrical schematics, system diagrams, and assembly drawings.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Preferred Skills

Mechanical or electrical engineering experience.

Knowledge of government proposal standards, such as Shipley processes, FAR/DFARS compliance, or other industry best practices.

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.

Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form.

Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need‑to‑know.

Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.

All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

Ability to work in a regular office/classroom environment, as well as in and around electronic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and confined spaces.

Physical Demands

Ability to ingress and egress simulator boarding ramps/stairs under normal and emergency conditions and access confined spaces in and around simulator equipment.

Color perception.

Ability to operate a personal computer and communicate via e‑mail/telephone.

Requires travel both nationally and internationally.

Ability to work overtime as required.
