
Sr Copywriter

Job Description The first job of a Copywriter is to have ideas, to see the world in a new way, and to share that unique vision with consumers through writing that they immediately understand. The copywriter will be the trusted consultant on matters of language and must be able to devise original, strategically sound and persuasive copy that is in line with client-approved direction, working with art resources where appropriate. The copywriter demonstrates a wide breadth of abilities from long form to headlines to calls-to-action to brand manifestos, has excellent grammar and spelling skills, and can respond positively to feedback from the client and re‑draft copy to meet their comments, while retaining the impact of the copy.
Responsibilities Attends briefing sessions and discusses brand, selling strategy and purpose of the brief with the appropriate members of the brand/project management teams
Helps present layouts and storyboards to Creative Director for approval
May, on occasion, present layouts and storyboards to client for approval
Stays abreast of trends, talent, competitive advertising and target mindset
Contributes to new business pitches
Where necessary, challenges preconceptions and proposes alternative approaches or solutions that more effectively achieve the objectives identified in the brief
Works with an Art Director, Creative Director or alone, if necessary, to create appropriate concepts
Can tell compelling stories
On approval of concept by account team and client, prepares full copy documents
Provides writing support and expertise on a wide variety of media
Expresses thorough understanding of client's business as well as their competitor's
Manages own time and output in line with deadline and budgetary requirements of the job
Brainstorms and develops creative concepts that are on strategy
Presents work internally to creative and account teams
Shadows senior‑level creatives as they present work to clients
Collaborates with account, social media, UX and editing teams
Experience 2-3+ years of experience within digital marketing or a comparable industry
Portfolio is required to demonstrate creative skills
Demonstrated judgment and imagination for the creation of an advertisement
Experience with online content (websites, email, banner ads, social media, etc.)
Experience with print pieces is a plus
Experience in emerging platforms
Motivated, self-starter with an action orientated and can‑do attitude
Capable of juggling multiple projects, sticking to deadlines and ensuring high‑quality error‑free output
