Job Description Job Description Lead Senior Estimator-Bridge and Heavy Highway/Heavy Civil Construction Perfetto Contracting Co Inc has been a leader in the New York City Heavy Civil Construction market for over 30 years. We are seeking a Senior Estimator that has expertise in Bridge and Utility (GC) Construction to join our growing team! Responsibilities: Ability to prepare heavy civil construction estimates thoroughly, in a timely manner including takeoff, solicitation with proper backup, and supplementary information using HCSS estimating software . Prepare / head up estimates for heavy civil construction projects up to $20 Million /- alone and for larger and more complex jobs with proper assistance. Manage bid process and conduct bid review. Read and review all bid RFQ and RFP documentation and have a thorough understanding of the project. Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, utilities, and labor for construction projects. Research construction documents and analyze specifications. Perform detailed takeoffs. Manage pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions. Ensure relevant documents and budgets are submitted before bid deadline. Formulate contingency plans and effectively manage risks that might impact cost. Knowledge of latest estimating technology and industry-related techniques. Visit project sites necessary to do the estimate. Analyze and evaluate sub/vendor quotes/offers. Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors, subs, and clients. Read, understand, and offer improvements to the contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda). Offer Value-Engineering and Life-Cycle cost options for review. Perform quantity take-offs, organize, price, and analyze information. Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; create listings of appropriate contacts for specific projects. Communicate with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information; determine the suitability and competitive stance of subs and suppliers. Assist in the preparation of bid proposal for submittal. Attend Owner meetings during estimate development. Prepare detailed schedules for proposed projects. Initiate schematic plans or sketches to illustrate approach and strategy. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. Ability to work alone or with other estimators for the same estimate project depending on the job needs. Qualifications: 15 years (field and estimating) work experience in heavy civil bridge/heavy highway/utility construction. Minimum 7-10 years experience working for General Contractor(s) on heavy civil/utility projects of varying sizes. Deep knowledge of heavy civil construction implementation and estimating particularly in earth work, roadwork, concrete, structural steel, bridge work including substructure and superstructure concrete, utility, foundation work and any other related disciplines. Experience in DOT, MTA, DDC projects: all different aspects of heavy construction such as utility, concrete, structural steel, etc. BS degree in civil engineering strongly preferred, or construction management, or related; P.E. designation is a plus. Ability to mentor and lead less experienced estimators very efficiently. Must reside locally-NY or NJ. Estimating experience on public works projects in New York and New Jersey is desirable. Demonstrate the ability to lead a team for multiple projects and pursuits at any given time. Expert knowledge of HCSS estimating software is preferred or willing to learn it rapidly; knowledge of creating schedules in P6 and Microsoft Project. Must possess a strong work ethic, confident people skills, demonstrate good organization, verbal, and written communication skills, and excellent leadership skills. Solid time management skills and ability to thrive under pressure. The work location is 152-41st St Brooklyn, NY. A hybrid work schedule may be available for this position.
