Position Summary

Senior Director, Finance – Operations Finance leads the development and execution of strategic financial planning by collaborating across departments to align financial targets with corporate goals. This role oversees risk management, financial reporting, and analysis to support informed business decisions and operational efficiency. By driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with control structures, the position enhances transparency and accuracy in financial operations. The Senior Director also fosters talent development and builds strong partnerships to advance organizational objectives while upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethical leadership.

Team Overview

The Operations Finance team is a strategic finance partner to Sam Club’s operations organization, helping drive both top‑line growth and operational efficiency across the business. In addition to supporting areas such as labor planning, incentives, asset protection, fulfillment, and fresh operations, the team partners on sales‑driving initiatives, performance improvement opportunities, and investment decisions that strengthen business results. By combining rigorous financial planning, forecasting, and analysis with cross‑functional collaboration, the team helps identify opportunities, manage risk, and guide decisions that improve sales, profitability, and long‑term value.

What you’ll do

  • Lead long‑term strategic financial planning by collaborating with departments to align financial targets with corporate goals.
  • Analyze business performance, identify gaps, and provide actionable insights to support decision‑making and risk management.
  • Oversee financial control structures, ensuring compliance and enhancing transparency across reporting systems.
  • Direct the preparation and presentation of complex financial models and forecasts for executive leadership.
  • Manage global consolidation of financial statements, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accuracy.
  • Develop and implement business strategies, resource plans, and operational improvements to drive results.
  • Foster talent development, succession planning, and a culture of integrity and accountability.

  • Demonstrated success in driving business performance through data‑driven decision‑making and operational improvements.
  • Ability to lead talent development initiatives and foster a high‑performing, ethical work environment.

Annual salary range: $130,000.00 – $260,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Compensation may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field and 6 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or a related area OR 8 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or a related area. Three years of supervisory experience and three years of experience leading and completing cross‑functional projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Strategic Planning; experience working in a large corporate environment, agency, or headquarters; working in a matrixed organization. Master’s degree (MBA). Certified Public Accountant certification.
