Director of Finance, Single Family Office, Miami
A multi-billion-dollar single family office headquartered in Miami, investing globally across direct private investments, real estate, and operating businesses, alongside a diversified portfolio of liquid and alternative assets. The office supports the principal’s investment activities and personal enterprises through a lean, high-caliber team that prizes rigor, discretion, and ownership.
The Director of Finance will report directly to the CFO and own the day-to-day accounting, controllership, and financial reporting function across the platform. The role is designed for a technically strong controller ready to operate at the director level — someone who can take primary ownership of numbers while partnering with the CFO on broader financial strategy and operational priorities. Controllership is the core of this seat; strategic contribution is its trajectory.
Core Duties
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across all entities within the platform.
- Own the preparation and delivery of consolidated financial reporting to the CFO and principal.
- Ensure GAAP compliance and consistent application of accounting policy as the portfolio evolves.
- Oversee multi-entity consolidation spanning operating companies, real estate holdings, investment vehicles, and SPVs.
Controls, Systems & Process
- Own the firm’s accounting systems infrastructure, including Sage Intacct, or lead migration if not yet in place.
- Design and maintain internal controls appropriate to a family office of significant scale and complexity.
- Drive continuous improvement in close cycle time, data integrity, and reporting workflows.
Treasury & Liquidity
- Oversee cash positioning, intercompany movements, and liquidity management across entities.
- Partner with the CFO on short- and medium-term cash forecasting.
Tax & Audit Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external tax advisors, auditors, and compliance counsel.
- Lead preparation of workpapers, audit support, and tax deliverables across the entity structure.
Strategic Finance Partnership
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
- Support investment tracking, capital deployment analysis, and ad hoc financial projects.
- Contribute to the design and scaling of the finance function as the platform grows.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with demonstrated ownership of a close and consolidation process at a family office, investment firm, real estate platform, or PE-backed portfolio company.
- CPA required or strongly preferred; Big 4 or national firm foundation valued.
- Deep technical fluency in GAAP, multi-entity consolidation, and investment accounting.
- Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP; history of systems implementation or optimization a plus.
- Track record of operating with autonomy in lean, high-trust environments.
Location
Full-time, in-person role based in Miami. Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
