SBA/Specialty Lending Director & SVP

California's fastest growing bank is looking to hire an SBA/Specialty Lending Director with expert experience in SBA and State Guaranty loan products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead rapid growth at an SBA Preferred Lender at a Bank focused on helping small business clients.
  • Manage SBA Team members and recruiting staff –be a true “Player/Coach” by leading and participating in guiding loans through the pipeline from the sales, application, underwriting, closing/funding and secondary market sale processes.
  • Underwrite new SBA, State Guaranteed and Conventional loan products primarily 7a and 504 loans following the Bank’s lending policy and procedures, SBA guidelines and prudent lending practice.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge and provide guidance on the SBA SOP when collaborating with RMs, underwriting and credit employees.
  • Perform financial and ratio analysis on collected financial information to evaluate financial condition/capacity of each applicant.
  • Review real estate appraisal, environmental studies and business valuation to analyze collateral adequacy.
  • Prepare a comprehensive credit memo on each loan request for presentation to proper approval authority.
  • Monitor and service existing loan portfolio.
  • Prepare and update daily, weekly and monthly administrative reports
  • Promote and cross sell the Bank’s services and products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist the Sales Team on government guaranteed leads
  • Reports to Chief Credit Officer

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years Commercial Lending with minimum of 5 years of SBA Lending experience and ideally 3to 5 years of secondary market experience
  • Formal credit training required and deep understanding of credit, deal structuring and SBA SOP.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess verbal and numeric aptitudes as well as the ability to communicate effectively with Clients, employees and others both verbally and in written communication
  • Extensive knowledge of government guaranteed products, credit policy, processes and procedures
  • Must have SBA/California State Guarantee portfolio management, servicing and document origination experience
