Head of Sales - Public Finance

Our client is seeking a senior commercial leader to oversee and grow a high-performing sales team focused on the Public Finance / Capital Markets sector. This individual will be responsible for driving revenue growth across existing clients and new business opportunities, while leading a team of relationship managers and maintaining key strategic client relationships.

This role combines team leadership, strategic account management, and revenue ownership, with a focus on scaling a consultative sales organization in a complex, regulated market environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of relationship managers responsible for revenue growth across a defined client base
  • Own and drive overall revenue performance, including pipeline development, forecasting, and execution against targets
  • Build and execute strategic sales plans to expand existing client relationships and acquire new business
  • Maintain direct relationships with key strategic accounts, advisors, and industry stakeholders
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations, including pricing and contract structuring for large, strategic deals
  • Establish and enforce sales processes, performance metrics, and reporting standards across the team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (product, analytics, legal, compliance) to support client solutions and ensure alignment
  • Represent the organization externally at industry events, conferences, and client meetings
  • Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and client needs to inform go-to-market strategy
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in consultative sales within financial services, capital markets, or a related sector
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing sales teams and driving revenue growth
  • Deep experience in strategic relationship management with senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of public finance, capital markets, or debt financing structures
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies in complex, enterprise environments
  • Experience leading large, complex deal negotiations
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience coaching and developing teams
  • High level of commercial acumen and ability to navigate ambiguity
