Our Youth Theatre program provides a creative, supportive and professional space for young performers to explore their talents, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts. We emphasize the importance of professionalism and etiquette throughout the process. We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and dedicated Youth Theatre Director to lead and mentor our talented group of young actors.
Position Overview:
The Youth Theatre Director will be responsible for overseeing the creative direction of our Youth Theatre program, including the development, rehearsal, and performance of theatrical productions. This role requires a strong ability to engage with children and teens, fostering their artistic growth and creating an inclusive, encouraging environment where all participants feel valued.
Duties include:
Direct and choreograph three Kids productions (ages 6-11) throughout the season.
Create an environment that teaches professionalism and theatre etiquette.
Work with stage management and artistic staff to create a complete and cohesive rehearsal schedule.
Cast, rehearse and ensure a successful final performance in a timely manner.
Work with Stage Management and Admin to give clear instructions to the parents/guardians of the performers.
Arrive for each rehearsal prepared for that day's tasks and adhere to the rehearsal schedule.
Work with production staff and deliver costume, scenic and prop needs by established deadline.
Productions will be double cast with Cast A rehearsing Tues and Fri, Cast B rehearsing Thurs and Sat. Each cast will consist of 25-30 students.
Director will create one production for both casts to perform, ensuring they are identical in presentation and casting.
Schedule:
Productions rehearse 4 times a week for 5 weeks. Each cast gets two rehearsals a week. Rehearsals are held at the theatre Tues, Thurs and Fri (4-6:30pm) and on Saturdays (10-12:30pm). Productions go up October, March and June.
