
Performance and Reward Director - Americas

Role Description
The Performance and Rewards Director for the Americas, a member of the CoE Performance, Reward and Organizational Design (PRO) community, is responsible for directing total rewards strategies for the Americas (Canada, United States, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Peru). This role will lead in strategic development of innovative, competitive, cost‑effective reward & benefits programs that enable Arcadis to attract, retain, reward, and motivate high‑performing and high‑potential employees. It will serve as a strategic thought leader in the performance and reward team regarding compensation and benefits program design and will partner with internal teams to deliver client‑focused results and practical solutions.
Role Accountabilities
- Develop, design, and implement innovative compensation strategies: create market‑competitive compensation programs through market surveys and industry research that are financially efficient and allow Arcadis to attract, motivate, and retain top talent.
- Lead, develop and support local teams: lead local PRO staff to develop and deliver best‑in‑class market‑specific compensation and benefit offerings.
- Compliance: ensure that all compensation and benefits programs in the Americas operate in compliance with all applicable government regulations.
- Collective Bargaining: provide market intelligence to personnel responsible for the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements in Latin America to ensure that negotiated labor rates support a market‑competitive proposition for our customers.
- Global Benefits Framework: partner with regional PRO directors to establish global benefits policies, maintain inventories of all global benefits programs, benchmark market programs for competitiveness, and develop cost‑efficient financing of programs by partnering with finance and global insurance business partners.
- Key contributor: actively contribute to the development and rollout of Global Total Reward programs and provide direct support to top‑level leaders in the Americas to align compensation strategies to help drive success in the marketplace.
- Develop incentive compensation strategies: design short‑term incentive pay strategies that link variable compensation to corporate and individual performance.
- Development of sales incentive framework: function as subject‑matter expert for PRO COE in the design, administration, and governance of all sales incentive arrangements to drive sales and create accountability for sales personnel to deliver on company sales targets.
- Develop benefit strategies: design cost‑effective benefits strategies that allow Arcadis to provide a market‑competitive benefit offering and deliver the biggest value for clients.
- Make recommendations: provide recommendations for executive compensation arrangements, including short‑ and long‑term incentives and benefits.
- Advise clients: provide education, research and advice to senior executives, people business partners and talent acquisition on compensation and benefit programs.
- Assist with implementation: help implement and administer all compensation & benefits programs through collaboration with people services team, shared service centers, and systems technology partners.
- Collaborate: actively participate and contribute subject‑matter expertise with cross‑disciplinary teams to co‑create, develop, and implement people solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- The candidate should have extensive progressive experience in total rewards and understand the complexity of leading benefit and compensation issues in an international setting.
Other Required Experience and Competencies
- Experience working in a matrixed organization in an international setting and balancing global and local needs.
- Consulting agility, with experience using data analytics to align HR solutions with business imperatives and the ability to work in an agile way; business fluency with financial acumen and operations knowledge focused on business outcomes.
- Stakeholder management and the maturity to advise senior business leaders, influence outcomes, and at times challenge decisions made by leadership.
- The ability to make quick, sound decisions based on knowledge and judgment.
- An understanding and appreciation of the marketing, communication and presentation skills required to facilitate projects and initiatives.
- The ability to develop and maintain new and existing networks that support the effective and sustained delivery of the role.
- Strong written and verbal English skills.
- Master’s in human resources or business‑related discipline desired.
- Professional certifications in compensation and benefits desired.
- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese desired.
Benefits and Compensation
Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision, EAP, 401(k), STD, LTD, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, reward & recognition program, and optional benefits such as wellbeing benefits, adoption assistance and tuition reimbursement. Arcadis provides nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.
The salary range for this position is $136,000 – $299,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
