Job Summary

The National Electric Energy Testing, Research and Applications Center (NEETRAC) is looking for a Senior Research Engineer with a working title of Associate Director of NEETRAC. The duties of this position include oversight of strategic vision, providing leadership to the technical council and recruitment of new membership. Research activities will include:

  • Power delivery industry research and communication
  • Power cable system diagnostics
  • Statistical modeling and data analytics for power industry reliability assessment and prediction
  • Diagnostic technologies for power system apparatus condition assessment
  • High voltage engineering including design, qualification, long‑term operation of devices
  • Distributed energy resources (DER) applicability and operation
  • Electrical failure analysis of power system components
  • Quality assessment of power cable, tree wire, and transformers
  • Lead teams of engineers and technicians to perform research and testing in multiple areas including covered conductor systems, medium and high voltage cable systems, transformers and bushings; serve as PI and develop budget and testing plans
  • Serve as the liaison between the ECE academic faculty and NEETRAC

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in a related area, and seven (7) years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of that degree
  • A Master's degree in a related area, and nine (9) years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree
  • A Doctoral degree in a related area, and four (4) years of relevant full‑time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree
