Director of Automation
Material Handling | Systems Integration | P&L Leadership
Build a division from the ground up. An established material handling dealer is launching a dedicated Automation Integration division and we're looking for the operator who will build it, run it, and own the outcome. We're looking for an automation leader to set the vendor strategy, structure the division, and turn warm national account relationships into integrated automation wins.
What You'll Own Build the division. Full P&L responsibility from day one, pricing, margin, staffing, go-to-market, and operational execution. Establish the vendor stack. Identify and negotiate primary and secondary OEM partnerships across AMR/AGV, goods-to-person, ASRS, VLMs, conveyors, sortation, palletizing, robotics, and adjacent technologies. Partner with sales. Work alongside an established sales team to identify automation opportunities inside large national accounts including existing customers already spending significantly on traditional material handling. Design solutions. Lead or oversee system design, simulation, and proposal development for complex multi-technology integrations. Recruit and scale. Hire the engineering, project management, and technical resources needed to deliver. Deliver outcomes. Own project profitability, customer satisfaction, and division growth targets.
What You Bring Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or significantly growing an automation or integration business ideally from an early or greenfield stage. Deep working knowledge of the automation technology landscape: AMR/AGV, ASRS, goods-to-person, conveyors, sortation, VLMs, robotics, WES/WCS software. Existing relationships with major OEMs and a point of view on which partners win in which applications. P&L ownership or strong operational/commercial fluency — you understand margin, utilization, and project economics.
Location & Structure
